1970–1975: Worked as a sent-down youth in Xinfeng County and Hengfeng County, Jiangxi Province.
1975–1977: Studied medicine at Shangrao Health School, Jiangxi Province.
1977–1978: Instructor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Shangrao Health School.
1978–1981: Master’s student in Hematology at Shanghai Second Medical College.
1981–1984: Resident physician in internal medicine at Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Second Medical College.
1984–1989: Foreign resident physician at Saint-Louis Hospital Hematology Center in Paris; doctoral and postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Hematology, Université Paris Diderot.
1989–1993: Attending physician in internal medicine at Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Second Medical University; Director of the Molecular Biology Laboratory at the Shanghai Institute of Hematology (SIH).
