Currently serving as the Vice President of Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University, Director of the Shanghai Phage and Antibiotic Resistance Research Institute, Director of the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Organ Transplantation, Director of the Shanghai Kidney Transplant Quality Control Center, and Director of the Phage Research Institute of Fudan University. He is also recognized as a Shanghai Leading Talent, Outstanding Discipline Leader in Shanghai, and was awarded the title of Outstanding Hospital President by the Chinese Hospital Association in 2020. He concurrently serves as Chair of the Organ Transplantation Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association, Standing Committee Member of the Organ Transplantation Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of American Journal of Transplantation (Chinese Edition), Executive Editorial Board Member of 器官移植, and Editorial Board Member of journals such as International Journal of Clinical Practice and 中华器官移植杂志. He is also a peer reviewer for journals such as New England Journal of Medicine and American Journal of Transplantation.

He has long been engaged in clinical and basic research in kidney transplantation, phage therapy for drug-resistant bacterial infections, the mechanisms and prevention strategies of BK virus activation, and pathogen diagnosis and treatment. He has led over 20 research projects, including the National Key R&D Program during the 13th Five-Year Plan and National Natural Science Foundation projects. In recent years, he has focused particularly on infection prevention and control after transplantation and has led China’s first clinical trial on phage therapy for multidrug-resistant bacterial infections since 2018. He has published nearly 100 SCI papers in journals such as Emerging Microbes & Infections, Journal of Infection, EClinicalMedicine, EMBO Journal, and Med, and has applied for 11 patents, of which 5 have been granted.
