I was born 1962 in Seoul, Korea. I graduate Seoul National University College of Medicine 1987. I had been trained at Seoul National University Hospital as Resident of general surgery and fellow of transplant surgery from 1991 to 1996. Now I am professor of department of surgery at Konkuk University Hospital(KUH) from 2005. I have started the experimental study of pig to monkey xeno organ transplantation since 2011 with the national grant from Rural Development Administration as a PI. I have done heart, kidney and islet cell xeno-transplantation and sole, longest survival records of pig to monkey kidney and heart xeno-transplantation. In 2023, I have received the 5 years big national fund for xenotransplantation research(3,000 million for 5 years) and have done pig to NHP xenotransplantation research . I am member of board of directors at Korean Society of Transplantation and member of TTS, AST and IXA. I am very interested in transplantation immunology including xeno-immunology and improvement of survival of xeno organ transplantation. I have research center for xenotransplantation and research team with 1 post-doc and 6 graduate students. I have received the award of Minister of Department of Health and Welfare for two times (2013, 2024).
