Dr. Jiang Liu is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Hong Kong, specializing in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery and liver transplantation. His clinical, basic, and translational research focuses on immune and metabolic mechanisms, as well as the medical applications of biomaterials. He has published 34 SCI papers, with a total of 622 citations and an H-index of 14. He was the lead author in developing the international guidelines on biomarkers for enhanced recovery after liver transplantation and the consensus on the diagnosis of small-for-size syndrome in living donor liver transplantation. In 2022, he was the first to identify mild steatosis in transplanted livers as a risk factor for poor long-term outcomes after living donor liver transplantation. He has also conducted the first preclinical study on using microrobots for stem cell therapy in liver cancer and proposed a theory on the regional immune microenvironment contributing to liver cancer recurrence after transplantation.

Dr. Liu holds several prestigious roles, including Young Member of the International Liver Transplantation Society, Member of the Scientific Committee of the International Living Donor Liver Transplant Registry, Member of the World Guidelines Task Force on Perihilar Cholangiocarcinoma, and Youth Committee Member of the Hong Kong Association of Scientists. He has received numerous international academic awards, including the International Liver Transplantation Society's Outstanding Young Investigator Award and Young Researcher Award, the International Transplant Society's Scholar-Mentor Award, the International Digestive Disease Forum Young Investigator Award, and the Gold Medal and Special Commendation from the Geneva International Invention Exhibition and the China Invention Association.
